Do you need to prepare the surface before coating?

Remove all dirt, fat, grease, oil & rust. The surface must be clean, dry and in sound condition.

Use Maxaguard Metal Cleaner for optimal cleaning.

Do you need to sandblast the surface?

No, it is not necessary to sandblast the surface. The Primer provides the same level of adhesion without sandblasting.

Can you still sandblast the surface to comply with written standards & recommendations?

Yes.

What level of corrosion class can be delivered with the Maxaguard Primer on carbon steel?

C5, long, ISO 12944-5, 1 600 hours, Sa (sandblasted) 2,5.

What level of thickness of the Primer coating to get the C5 corrosion class?

About 200 microns dry, 450 microns wet
